On April 27th, Albert L. Hogan Jr. answered his last call to duty and entered into heavenly rest. He was 85 years old. He is the son of Ruby & Albert Hogan Sr. He is preceded in death by his loving wife Norma, sister Jeanine, and baby brother Jimmy.
Al is survived by his daughter Debbie (Tom) Nelson; sons Albert III (Carol) and James (Anne). He and Norma were so very proud of their grandchildren, Jason (Sarah) Nelson, Steve (Meredith) Nelson, Calin, Michael, Katie and Joe Hogan and Todd Muir. Great grandchildren Graeme, Nolan, Ada, Hogan, Emerson, Ava and Owen. He will also be missed by his two best “furry friends” Molly & Meeka, along with numerous nieces and nephews – he loved them all.
He was honored to serve in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, where he was chief mate for a squadron of fighter planes. He cherished his career as a Columbus police officer for 20 years, where he made so many life-long friends. He also touched many young lives, spending his summers as a little league coach. He dedicated his whole life to his children and grandchildren by always being there – listening, caring and loving.
Al was very proud of his Irish heritage and when he could, went “home” for visits. He regularly attended Cypress Wesleyan Church, where he learned to grow and walk in faith. He considered Pastor Dave Holdren, Dale George and Mike Thompson not only his pastors, but friends as well.
Special thanks goes to Dr. Lakshmi Seshadri and her entire staff for all their help & care throughout the years.
Friends may call at Cypress Wesleyan Church, 377 Alton-Darby Creek Rd., Monday, April 30th from 6-8 PM, and Tuesday, May 1st from 10-11 AM, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 AM Tuesday. Interment Sunset Cemetery.
