James A Martin

Martin James A. Martin, age 76, a loving father and grandfather, passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2017 at Mt. Carmel West. James loved helping people, even sacrificing for himself, to always put everyone else first. A true jokester, his many interests included nature, telling good stories and a few off color jokes, golfing, trains, animals and music. He was a Veteran of the US Army, serving in Vietnam. Member American Legion #532. He was previously a volunteer EMT with the Fire Department back in New York. Preceded in death by parents Arland "Shorty" and Katherine Martin, brother Arland Jr. "Pepper". Survived by children, Cathy Achter, Patricia (Toby) Miller, Darlene (Roger) King, Daniel Alcorn, Tina (Monte) Chester, Debbie Breeze, Shaun (Kaytee) Henry and Stephanie (Jerry III) Morris; grandchildren, Megan, Julie, Adam, Emily, Leslie, Wesley, Lily, Isabella and Jerry IV; great grandson, Landon. Friends may call at JERRY SPEARS FUNERAL HOME, 2693 W. Broad St., Thursday 5-8 p.m. Additional calling hours will be held at VanRensselaer and Son Funeral Home, 14 Church St., Randolph, NY, 14772, Saturday, 11 a.m.-12 noon, where service will follow at 12 noon. Interment East Randolph Cemetery.
